New edition is greatly expanded to cover latest databus technology, including AFDX (Ethernet) and Time-Triggered Protocol
Avionic Databuses discusses the fundamentals, workings, testing, troubleshooting, and fault correction of the modern avionics databus as found in advanced transport category, bus-jet, and military aircraft; plus details of several specific types including Honeywell's SafeBus, SAE's linear token passing bus and high speed ring bus, the Eurofighter EFAbus, AFDX/Ethernet, and others.
With this edition 100 pages have been added to cover the most important new developments in databuses; AFDX (Avionics Full Duplex Ethernet) and TTP (Time Triggered Protocol). The book also describes every major databus on today's civil and military aircraft, including ARINC 429, 629, MIL-STD-1553, ASCB, CSDB, SafeBus, EFAbus, and more

From the Introduction:
Advances in digital technology are combining more processing power and memory in smaller lightweight packages. The major impact is that digital signals are no longer isolated within each "black box". Dataprocessing can now be located wherever it is needed, thus distributing intelligence throughout the system. Data is now easily accessible to central and remote processors within each system. Sensors, servomechanisms, displays, and dozens of other components now interconnect and communicate in databus systems which can be designed to be highly tolerant of failures.
