Composite construction offers the advantage of extremely smooth skins and the ability to easily form complex curved and streamlined structures. The skills needed to work with composites are not difficult and are easily learned, but somewhat different than those used in other types of aircraft construction.

This video produced by Ron Alexander of Sport-Air Workshops and EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association demonstrates the various types of materials and techniques used in basic composite aircraft instruction including:

laminating systems
types of foams
fillers
fiberglass and various other cloth types
simple lay-ups
joining molded parts
use of peel ply
